The foundation of my practice

My foundation in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery was built in Germany. I now focus entirely on performing spine surgery, from assessment and planning to the operation and follow-up.

Training across the musculoskeletal and spine spectrum
At LMU’s university hospital, the musculoskeletal department brought together broad exposure to orthopaedics and trauma, teaching and daily case discussion. It taught me to read imaging alongside examination, movement and the patient’s overall health.
I then continued my spine training in a high-volume specialist department at a teaching hospital, concentrating on scoliosis, adult deformity, degenerative conditions, reconstruction and revision surgery. This progression taught me to compare approaches and adapt the plan to the patient’s anatomy and goals.

Current practice
Responsibility beyond the operation
I work as a Senior Spine Surgeon at the Spine Surgery and Scoliosis Centre, Artemed Klinikum München Süd—an academic teaching hospital of LMU in Munich. Alongside performing surgery and caring for patients, I teach and contribute to case discussions and quality management.
Clinical focus
I perform surgery for scoliosis, adult spinal deformity, degenerative spine conditions and problems following previous operations. My practice also includes spinal injuries and infections, using microscopic, minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques according to each case.
Teaching and international development
Teaching and structured case discussion with colleagues from different surgical backgrounds keep clinical reasoning rigorous. International conferences, practical workshops and the AO Global Spine Diploma have widened my perspective and built relationships with leading spine surgeons.

I document complex surgical cases and the decisions behind their treatment, sharing practical experience with the wider surgical community.

C5 osteotomy for deformity after cervical fusion
This report presents the first description of a C5 pedicle subtraction osteotomy to correct a cervical spinal deformity caused by complications of previous surgery. The operation was performed entirely from the back of the neck, without further surgery from the front or fusion of additional spinal levels.
